When you visit Dashcamhq, you trust us with some of your information. This policy explains exactly how we handle that trust. It covers what we collect, why we collect it, who may see it, and the choices you have. Dashcamhq is a website for car owners who want to choose, fit, and use dashcams with confidence. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we apply similar care to visitors from other countries.

By using Dashcamhq, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the site. Your continued use means you accept the policy as it currently stands.

Dashcamhq is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, in line with COPPA in the United States and our own commitment to young people’s privacy.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, email us at the address at the bottom of this page. We will delete the information promptly.

Dashcamhq collects two kinds of information.

Information you give us (personally identifiable information):

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number, if you choose to share it
  • Your postal address, if a request needs one
  • Payment details, if you buy something through the site. Payments are processed by third-party providers, and we do not store full card numbers.
  • Anything you write in a message, form, or comment

Information collected automatically:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Internet service provider
  • Date and time stamps of your visits
  • Referring and exit pages
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information, such as health, political, or religious details. Please do not send it to us. Dashcamhq also does not collect, host, or review dashcam footage unless you choose to send us a clip or screenshot yourself.

We collect information through:

  • Contact forms and other forms on the site
  • Comments on articles and reviews
  • Newsletter signups
  • Purchases, if the site offers any
  • Server log files
  • Google Analytics
  • Cookies and similar technologies

Where practical, we collect information directly from you. Some of it is gathered automatically when your device connects to the site.

We use personal information to:

  • Run, maintain, and improve Dashcamhq
  • Answer your questions and provide customer service
  • Send newsletters and updates you have asked for
  • Personalise content, such as dashcam guides and recommendations relevant to you
  • Market our own content and services
  • Analyse how the site is used
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse

We use information only for these purposes, or for related purposes you would reasonably expect. Otherwise we will ask for your consent first.

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They help a site remember your preferences, recognise return visits, and measure how people use it.

Dashcamhq uses cookies to keep the site working, understand which dashcam content is useful, and remember your settings. Some cookies come from third-party services we use.

You can disable or delete cookies in your browser settings. The steps differ by browser, so check your browser’s help pages. Parts of the site may not work properly without cookies.

Web beacons, pixels, and tags are small pieces of code that record when a page or email has been viewed. Third-party services may place them on Dashcamhq for analytics. They may also be used for advertising if we add advertising partners in the future.

They often work alongside cookies. Blocking cookies may limit what they can collect.

Dashcamhq uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. It collects data such as your IP address, device details, pages visited, and time spent on each page.

Google handles that data under its own policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. Google also provides a browser add-on that lets you opt out of Google Analytics.

Like most websites, Dashcamhq uses standard server log files. They record IP addresses, browser type, ISP, date and time stamps, referring and exit pages, and sometimes the number of clicks.

This data is not linked to information that identifies you personally. We use it to study trends, administer the site, and understand overall visitor movement.

When you comment on Dashcamhq, we collect the name, email address, and IP address you submit. Your name and comment may appear publicly, but your email address does not. Please avoid posting personal details, such as your car registration number or home address, in a comment.

When you follow, share, or interact with Dashcamhq on social media, those platforms collect data under their own privacy policies. Anything you post publicly can be viewed, copied, and shared by others. We do not control how those platforms use your information.

If you join the Dashcamhq newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it to send dashcam news, buying guides, and related updates. We send marketing emails only with your consent, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). For recipients in the United States, we also follow CAN-SPAM.

Every email clearly identifies us as the sender and includes a working unsubscribe link. We will process unsubscribe requests promptly, and within five working days.

You can stop receiving our messages at any time by doing either of the following:

  • Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.
  • Email us at the address below and ask to be removed.

Opting out of marketing does not stop messages directly related to a request you made, such as a reply to your question. You can also opt out of cookies through your browser settings.

Dashcamhq takes part in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Associates Program. Some links to dashcams, memory cards, hardwire kits, and other car accessories may be affiliate links.

If you click one and buy something, Dashcamhq may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partners may set their own cookies when you click these links, and their privacy policies govern that data.

Dashcamhq may work with third-party advertising partners now or in the future. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to show ads based on your interests, including your visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from participating companies through these tools:

Opting out does not remove ads. It means the ads you see may be less relevant to you.

Some pages on Dashcamhq include embedded content from other websites, such as dashcam review videos, images, or articles. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other site directly.

Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, add their own tracking, and monitor how you interact with the content. This can happen even if you do not click on it. We do not control that tracking.

Dashcamhq links to websites we do not own or run, such as manufacturers, retailers, and state road authorities. This policy does not apply to them. Read their privacy policies before you share personal information there.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share it in these situations:

  • Service providers: Companies that help us run the site, such as hosting, analytics, email delivery, and payment processing. They may use your data only to perform services for us.
  • Legal compliance: When the law, a court order, or a government request requires it, or to protect our rights, safety, or property, or that of others.
  • Business transfers: If Dashcamhq is sold, merged, or transferred, your data may move to the new owner.
  • With your consent: In any other case where you have agreed.

Many of our service providers, including Google, operate overseas, for example in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Dashcamhq uses reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. These include secure hosting and limited access to stored data.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires.

  • Comments and their metadata: Kept indefinitely, so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments without holding them in a moderation queue.
  • Newsletter data: Kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact messages: Kept as long as needed to deal with your request.
  • Analytics and log data: Kept for a limited period, then deleted or de-identified.
  • Purchase records: Kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

When we no longer need information, we will destroy it or de-identify it where reasonable.

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you can:

  • Access: Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete.
  • Anonymity: Deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym where it is practical, for example when browsing.
  • Complaint: Complain if you think we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles.

Email your request to the address below. We may need to confirm your identity first. We aim to respond within 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will explain why in writing.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the GDPR gives you these rights:

  • Access: Ask for a copy of your personal data.
  • Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: Ask us to delete your data.
  • Restriction: Ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Objection: Object to our processing, including for direct marketing.
  • Portability: Ask for your data in a portable, commonly used format.
  • Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. This does not affect processing done before you withdrew.
  • Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

To use any of these rights, email us at the address below.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you these rights:

  • Right to know: Ask what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell, and the categories of sources and third parties involved.
  • Right to delete: Ask us to delete the personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to opt out of sale: Direct us not to sell your personal information. This is the “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” right. Dashcamhq does not sell your data for money. Some advertising and analytics tools may count as a “sale” or “sharing” under California law, and you can opt out as described above.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Send requests to the email address below. We will respond within one month. If we need more time, we will tell you why.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm to you, we will follow the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act. That means we will notify you and the OAIC as required. Where other laws apply to you, we will meet their notice requirements too.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date on this page.

Continuing to use Dashcamhq after an update means you accept the new version. You are responsible for checking this page now and then for changes.
